Wood I use

Wood is an incredible resource.  Trees.  If you didn't know, capture CO2.  Which is good for the environment as us humans are determined to throw as much as we possibly can into the atmosphere, environmentally we need as many trees as we can grow.

Then, if we use that wood, the Carbon taken out of the environment is trapped in the wood (it becomes part of the wood).  If we burn it or it rots down the CO2 is re-released.  But if we use it, it's captured.  Hence 'Carbon Capture'.

I love it because if treated well, it lasts for a hell of a long time, and has a huge number of applications.

But, there is a downside to wood.  If we take old slow growing wood, in large quantities (deforestation) it can take decades to regrow.  Bottom line though, using correctly sourced sustainable wood and not just burning it, is a very good thing.

The wood I source I try to get locally if possible, and I aim for sustainably managed wood in the EU.
