Tree Bark

Now this is cool.  It’s a bark from fig trees in Uganda, which is like cork, re-generates, so the tree can be harvested multiple times.  Once it’s stripped off the tree it’s processed by hand. Now it’s not like the other leather alternatives here, as it's basically a layer of fibrous wood and needs to be treated like it. 

 

If it frays, don’t pull it. Cut it the fibre and go over with a little piece of sand paper 😊  With time it becomes really flexible and quite soft.  Strange qualities but I love it, as a bonus it’s got some amazing patterns too.   Environmentally… it’s got awards for how eco friendly it is!
