Leather is an incredibly versatile material, hard wearing, long lasting and readily available.  However, it's not good for the environment.  From the huge amount of emissions from the cattle industry, to the dire conditions in which tanning can take place.  On top of this, to get it we have to kill an animal.  I'm not saying we should all stop using leather, but perhaps we use it too much?  There is a world full of alternatives we can use and I'm going to highlight just a few of them I've found.

PS I would never encourage the use of Pleather, often touted as Vegan leather.  Plastic is not the answer!
